it as you say,it keeps work programme staff with something to do,out of us keeping them in work,think its disgraceful,countrys going downhill fast

As a job seeker yourself, Louis. Do you you honestly think you are in a situation to criticsize fellow job seekeers and look down your nose at them like they’re dirt because that is exactly what you are doing! You do not know people’s lives or circumstances and sometimes people have reasons yes Louis genuine reasons for not being able to apply for a vacancy rather excuses. News Flash Louis “We’re not all perfect.”.

Well done Janie for having the confidence to stand up to this job centre worker and the guts to complain. I have also noticed that they seem to target lone parents a lot of the time. These sanctions and threat of them are getting a bit beyond a joke now. They’ve got everyone (claimants) almost terrified every time their letter box goes in case it is a notification of a sanction! That poor pregnant girl being reduced to tears, too well they most certainly pick their marks a women on her own and her innocent unborn baby who would have also felt his/her mum’s upset. What a pity they’re not as tough on drug addicts alcoholics and those who have no intention of working as they are on lone parents and pregnant women. I am totally disgusted. X

I got Exact same treatment back in december(not filling tiny grey box on job search sheet)
instead of filling tiny grey box i actually gave printed detailed details job description + web link on their website + reference + results so far from application all clear short and readable no way i would get all that in stupid little 3 inch box on job search form so for about 6 weeks(3 signing days) was threatened with the same (wouldn’t “do anything on this occasion” but..) then it happened 2 weeks benefit lost and no other help available told them this was stupid i there was no other benefit help for that gap ..they ignored this and i have not been able to afford to in any way look for work/buy decent interview clothes/pay for 2 week backlog in heating bills since but am i sad NO except for a lot of people on this board in far worse situations to quote from the film Network “I’M MAD AS HELL AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE ANY MORE” AND I WILL WORK THE SYSTEM TO SURVIVE – FCUK THEM..

I am an advisor working for an organisation who deliver elements of the dreaded W/P as well as other employment focused projects. It appears that once you are subbed to go onto the W/P, you have been consigned to the scrapheap! Once on the W/P, you are no longer entitled to access any of the other employment projects/services, many of whom are able to assist with funding for training or re-training that would enhance or even guarantee an employment opportunity. W/P advisors have to achieve targets (rediculously unattainable in most cases) set by their respective employers in order to secure their own employment. Therefore, ‘cherrypicking’ the clients most likely to generate a ‘job outcome’ becomes a near nesessity for most advisors in order to free their time to concentrate on the clients most likely to gain employment. Before I go on, please note that I am not in any way trying to justify the appalling service many clients receive from W/P providers. So, the people who are most in need of support, who the W/P is supposed to help the most, find themselves receiving little or no support from their provider and unable to access support from other providers due to them being trapped on the W/P. A lot of clients do benefit from attending short courses in CV building, confidence building etc but many clients have been through this many times before on other DWP/Jobcentre + programmes that it actually drains the life out of them to the point of giving up! The government need to realise that funding for training etc actually benefits the client and the labour market when used correctly and in the right circumstances. I agree that you shouldnt have to ‘entice’ people to work by offering funding for this and that and it shouldnt just be given out willy nilly to anybody and everybody but it does genuinely help move people on into ‘sustainable’ employment which benefits society and the economy. Advisors can claim ‘quick hit’ outcomes/jobs by getting a client a job in a factory but then this job ends in 3 months so the client then signs back on, is subbed again to the work programme and the cycle goes on. Whereas, it could cost maybe £200 to get this client an SIA badge to enable him/her to work in the now thriving security industry for which I see many permanent positions almost daily on websites. Even for the clients who have rercently been made redundant, I have one example, a man who has worked as a site manager for the past 30 years was made redundant 9 months ago during which time his 1st aid certificate expired. Would it not be better to fund his 1st aid certificate for him that would then enable him to apply for site manager vacancies rather than tell him to lower his expectations and start applying for general unskilled vacancies that MAY last 3 months or more???? The government should make it an element of the tendering process that X amount of the hundreds of millions they award to the likes of A4E and Ingeus should be used for training and re-training for those who will benefit from it. Maybe they have, I dont know but if so, the providers certainly arent using any of the moneys they are paid to help clients in this way. Some people just dont want to work, OK, they shouldnt expect everyone else to subsidise their existence but the ones that do and just dont have the funds to pay for training that would near guarantee them a job, we should do all we can to help them get that job.

What does ESA stand for. I’m not well got extremely bad back. I’m on community action programme, and have to do 30 hours placement for 6 months. Also upto 10 hours job search at a centre each week. I’m not well enough to do this regularly, I have been told that I’ve been issued a sanction. Not been given a reason why either. Could you give me some advice on what to do or where to go for help. hi my son is being sanctioned for not showing his bank card by working links and not giving them his birth certificate and because he refuses to have the mobile phone they say he must have so we told him to supply one of our spare phones and they put a sim card in it for him but now they have told the d w p he did not attend but he as got them there as he got a signature from one of the staff on the day in question for them to say he had not received any travel allowance
